As the new Principal of Western Oaks Middle School, I am honored to serve the Warrior community and carry-on the tradition of excellence that is Western Oaks. Over the last eleven years I have had the wonderful opportunity to serve in Putnam City Schools as an educator and administrator.
My family and select teachers who poured into my life enhanced my own education and they were the driving force for me to grow up with the belief that education is paramount. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science followed by working in an Environmental Chemistry Lab for four years. It was during those years in the lab I realized my career was headed nowhere and my love of Science and education could have more of an impact elsewhere. I served my first year in Oklahoma City Public Schools in 7th grade Science. The next year I was hired at Mayfield Middle School in Putnam City Schools where I learned what it truly meant to be an educator and this understanding helped me to instill a passion for Science and education in 7th & 8th grade students for five years. Administrators that I had the opportunity to learn from also served as a motivator for me to move into school administration. Over the last six years I have served as a school administrator at Western Oaks Elementary and Mayfield Middle School.
Our goal at Western Oaks Middle School is that every student deserves the best possible education as well as to be held to the highest standards. What does that look like for our students? Our Western Oaks Warriors become college and career minded and an end result is they are ready to enter the community as a positive and productive citizen. During the course of the year the decisions we make will be designed to move our Warriors into this mindset and propel them into a bright future.
One of the joys of being an administrator of a school is building relationships by talking with and getting to know students, parents, and guardians. I would love the opportunity to get to know you and would like to extend a warm welcome to all our patrons. Please import our school calendar onto your smart device to ensure that you are kept up-to-date on WOMS activities. As this next school year begins there will be many opportunities to come talk, share, and partner with us and I look forward to meeting each one of you.
