Things You Should Know

School Day— Our school day is from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Before School — Students may enter the building at 7:30 a.m. at which time they may go to the cafeteria for breakfast, or to the gym if in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grades. PreK and Kindergarten meet in the Kindergarten hall, 1st grade meets in the Media Center and 4th grade meets in the 5th grade hall. Students arriving between 8:15 and 8:30 should go straight to their classroom. If a student arrives after 8:30 a.m. they should go to the office for a tardy slip, then report to their classroom.

Warrior Wake-Up — We have a school-wide assembly on Friday mornings at 8:30 in the gym. Parents and patrons are welcome to attend.

Lunch money — Lunch money may be turned in to the cafeteria before school.

Dismissal — Students are dismissed from class at the end of the day according to how they get home. Day Care riders are dismissed at 3:25 to go to the cafeteria and wait for their ride. Walkers are dismissed at 3:30. Bus riders are released at 3:30 to meet in the certain then walk to their bus. Car riders are released at 3:25 to go to the gym and wait for their ride.

Thursday Folders — Thursday Folders are teacher/parent communication folders that go home with students each Thursday. They contain school work and other information from the school or teacher. Parents are welcome to use this folder to communicate with their student’s teacher.

Discipline Folders — Discipline Folders are a tool used by the school to communicate with parents about their student’s conduct at school. If there is a problem at school the teacher will sign the student’s green discipline folder and send it home with the student that day for the parent to sign and the student to bring back to school the next day. All discipline folders will also be sent home on Thursdays in the Thursday Folder. After 3 consecutive signatures in a 5-day period the student is assigned After School Academy (ASA).

Specials— Specials classes are Music, Art, Physical Education, Math, and Computer Lab. The Math classes are in addition to math in their regular classroom. Students attend these classes daily on a rotating basis.

Learning Lab — We have two full-time learning lab teachers who work with students who have qualified for special services. For more information contact our Learning Lab teachers, Robin Fearnow or Lori Naeher.

Speech — We have a full-time speech teacher who works with students who have qualified for special services. For more information contact our Speech teacher, Emily Langdon.  We also have a speech teacher who works with our hearing impaired students.  For more information contact Amy McDonald.

PEAK — PEAK is the title for our Gifted and Talented program. Students in grades 2-5 can qualify for this program. For more information contact our PEAK teacher, Christina Holland.

Strings — Our district has a music program for students in 4th and 5th grades who would like to learn to play a stringed instrument. For more information contact our Strings teacher, Anne Guevara.

ELL — This is the title given to our program for English language learners. Students who are learning English as a second language work with our ELL teacher. For more information contact our ELL teacher, Indra Carrillo.

Hearing Impaired — We have two classes for hearing impaired students one for preschool and kindergarten students led by Dianna Fine and one for 1st through 5th grade students led by LaDawn Cummings.  For more information about the program contact Mrs. Fine or Mrs. Cummings.

Visitors — Visitors are always welcome in our building. Please stop by the office, sign in and get a visitor’s sticker.
